Best New Orleans Po Boy

Sure! Here’s my log about the best po’ boys in New Orleans.

For those who don’t know, a po’ boy is a traditional Louisiana sandwich made with meat or seafood, lettuce, pickles, and mayonnaise or other spreads on a long baguette. There are many tasty places to get a po’ boy in New Orleans, but these are some of my favorites:

  • Domilese’s: Domilese’s is a family-owned sandwich shop known for their roast beef po’ boy. The beef is slow-cooked in gravy, making it incredibly tender and flavorful. The sandwich is then dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and mayo, all piled high on a fresh baguette.
  • Parkway Bakery & Tavern: Parkway Bakery is another famous po’ boy destination in New Orleans. Their roast beef po’ boy is a classic, but they’re also beloved for their fried seafood po’ boys, especially the shrimp and oyster varieties. Their sandwiches are served on New Orleans-style French bread, which is crispy outside and fluffy inside.
  • Mahony’s: Mahony’s is a contemporary po’ boy shop that puts a modern twist on this classic New Orleans sandwich. They have many unique options, including the “peacemaker”, which is stuffed with fried shrimp, oysters, and melted cheddar cheese. Their freshly-baked bread and house-made dressings put their sandwiches over the top.
  • Guy’s Po-Boys: Guy’s is a local favorite that is a bit off-the-beaten-path but worth the trek. Their fried shrimp po’ boy is legendary. The shrimp is perfectly crispy and served with tangy tartar sauce, lettuce, and pickles, all piled high on a French bread.

Whether you’re looking for a classic roast beef po’ boy or a modern variation, these four places are sure to satisfy your craving. Enjoy the deliciousness of a New Orleans po’ boy!
